Supplements Feedback: Yes. In my personal experience, medical doctors don’t know about a lot of subjects. Natural and alternative medications help me with the things that they have no clue about. Ex: occasional restless legs, occasional sleeplessness (they always want to give me addictive drugs), muscle aches and pains, tension headaches, etc.

Supplements Feedback: They help because it is very hard to get all the nutrients you need from a normal diet.

As regards natural supplements to help overcome particular health problems, in general you avoid the side effects that you get from prescription medication.

Supplements Feedback: No, because they are not regulated in the US. They are not subject to the same strict standards that prescription medications are, so now we are discovering that they are far more full of contaminants than we suspected (next it will be lead, like in the lipstick). The products vary so much that it is impossible to consistently get the recommended therapeutic dose of the agent you want . They cause so many drug interactions and people either get hurt or decrease the effectiveness of their prescription medications.
Example: a nurse gave her dad gingko biloba to help with his memory. It can cause bleeding problems, and he was already on an anticoagulant prescription medication for another medical condition. He nearly bled to death.

Lay people just do not know enough to dose themselves and their loved ones without guidance. And there is no guidance in the vitamin and supplement aisle.
